I don't know how to tell you this...but I'm kind of a big deal

I tell you what, this is my week! I started the week kicking off the big bad retail project, great team and an awesome kick off dinner, then went on a great blind date last night, had a nice time with my friends eating delicious food and enjoying great company...and this morning I got a promotion! I am now a Senior Business Analyst. Send in the new biz cards. ;) I don't really know what this means exactly...other than I am definitely applying to biz school this year now that I can "prove" I'm on the fast track. Woo. I am pumped. Ok, tons of work to do, so that's it for now. I just felt like celebrating!

Last Night on the Beach

Tonight is the last night of unassigned life. I start tomorrow on a retail project in Dallas. I'll be based out of Dallas through the end of January at the earliest. It's a really cool project and a great opportunity...but bittersweet. Wouldn't you figure I'd get staffed locally for ski season...AGAIN! Booooooooo. Oh well. Like I said, good project and opportunity! We're having our internal kick off tomorrow, and like the good little BA I am I organized the team kick off dinner, and will be providing area maps with directions between the key places this week. And I just found out that I'll be in charge of printing everything in the morning for our kick off. To celebrate my last day of freedom, I got up and went for a long run, then did pilates and cooked myself a delicious brunch - breakfast burrito and peppermint mocha! yum! I had plenty of pre-work to do so that kept me busy most of the day. But I did manage to tidy up a bit and get all of my laundry done, so that I don't have that stuff on my mind once I start working. It's hard to do the local thing. You can work til 2 in the morning when you're in a different city, staying in a hotel, and never think twice about it. But if I have to work much past 7 when I'm local, I start stressing about dinner, and getting my place in order, and doing the laundry and grocery shopping, and getting up in the morning to work out and get ready and out the door without leaving my place like a tornado came through it.

Weekend was good. Went out for 2 happy hours on Thursday with different friends than I usually get to see. Friday afternoon we had our Women's Consulting Network event - massages and pedicures followed by drinks and appetizers. So great. I am such a good planner :) Stayed in for a chill night after that so that I could get up at 6:45am on Saturday for the Walk for Wishes. It was a great time! Thanks to all of the walkers on Team Mitchdogg, and to all of you who pitched in for a great cause! :) Saturday night was Chuck's b-day, and we rented out the uptown trolley for a couple of hours to celebrate...her birthday and her engagement! That was really fun! We were able to bring on our own booze, music, and guests, and we just cruised around dancing and talking. Good times.

Well, off to bed to be rested for the first day on the big bad retail project! Bon soir!

Candy Coma

Ooh I love the day after Halloween! Last night I stopped at Target on my way home to buy some candy "just in case" I had any trick-or-treaters. Of course I didn't. I didn't expect too. But I had to have an excuse to create a candy stash. MMMMMM. So now I'm enjoying a mid-morning snack of candy corn, and I plan on having one or two mini-Twix as my lunch dessert. Oh man, I love candy. And now there's only one more holiday until the Christmas season!!! I can hardly stand it! I'm already getting anxious to bust out the Christmas tunes and deck the halls...must...restrain...my...self. I'm able to contain the excitement in that I keep reminding myself that I actually get to decorate early this year. I'm going to be out of town for Thanksgiving, and my Christmas party is the following weekend, so I'll have to decorate early so that I don't end up all stressed out during the week. :) Oh darn. :) Don't worry mom, dad and friends...I won't make you listen to the Christmas music until we're completely stuffed full of turkey and mashed potatoes. Oh Yum. I LOVE THIS SEASON! BRING ON THE CHEER!!!!
